THE BEGINNINGS OF NFT

The rise of NFT concepts

For over a decade, the token system (token) running on the cryptocurrency’s blockchain has been tested. Yoni Assia originally launched the Colored Coin on the Bitcoin network in 2012 for one satoshi, Bitcoin’s lowest unit of currency. Although not difficult, the Colored Coin concept already shares many parallels with modern NFTs. It is about using blockchain as a certificate of title for assets such as digital collectibles, coupons, real estate, equities, and so on. Unfortunately, Colored Coin failed instantly because Bitcoin was not designed to allow this type of transaction.

Realizing the potential of Blockchain-stored assets

Nonetheless, the crypto community has begun to recognize the value of assets kept on the blockchain. On the foundation of the Bitcoin blockchain, an open source peer-to-peer financial platform named Counterparty was established in 2014. However, it has a lot of improvements. It was one of the original Bitcoin 2.0 platforms, as well as a location where users could build their own currency or transferable goods. Counterparty is also well-known for its offers on rare their memes.

The emergence of the ERC-721 NFT standard

In 2017, there was a significant shift in the token systems that run on the Bitcoin blockchain. The ERC-721 standard, which permitted the issue and exchange of assets on the Ethereum blockchain, was the catalyst. As a result, third-party systems like Counterparty will become obsolete in the trading of NFTs. Ethereum perfects NFT and rises to the top of the blockchain-hosted asset market. Many people are also aware of NFT at this moment because of the virtual games, which lets users nurture and trade virtual characters using Ether.
